ARSENAL RETALIATE AND EARN A HARD-FOUGHT WIN – Coverage on Premier League – Matches, Transfer News, and More!

Arsenal, the biggest joke of the Premier League, travelled north to Middlesbrough in an attempt to gain their third win in a span of two months. Boro are unbeaten in their last 4 PL home games against Arsenal (W2 D2) – although they haven’t met at the Riverside since 2008. Arsenal were attempting to break Boro’s back line for the first half, constantly creating chances before a vital chance came near the end of the first half. In the 42nd minute, Arsenal were awarded a free-kick that Alexis Sanchez calmly took, curling it in to put them ahead just before break. Only Thierry Henry (12) has scoreed more direct free-kick goals in the PL for Arsenal than Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez’s goal was Arsenal’s 3000th away goal in English league football, the 2nd side to reach that figure (behind Man United with 3226). However, their joy was very brief as Boro equalized in the 50th minute. Stewart Downing went on a bursting run on the right wing before cutting back inside and brilliantly delivered a ball to Alvaro Negredo who managed to put Boro level. Negredo has scored 5 of Boro’s 13 home PL goals this season, and no other player has scored more than 2. Arsenal, despite conceding an equalizer, continued pushing forward, attempting to score the winning goal which they eventually found in the 71st minute. Sanchez picked out Aaron Ramsey in the box who chested the ball down to Mesut Ozil. Ozil then made no mistake and drilled the ball into the near post. Ozil has been involved in four goals in his last four Premier League games (2 goals, 2 assists); he also made four tackles in the game, his joint-most ever in a Premier League game, last doing so against Man City in December 2015.  Middlesbrough remain in the relegation zone and have conceded more PL goals against Arsenal than they have against any other side (64 in 30 games). On the other hand, Arsenal return to winning ways, arriving back into the top six ahead of Everton. But, don’t get your hopes up Arsenal fans. Three of Arsenal’s last four away league wins have been against the sides currently in the relegation zone.
